Yin yoga is a softer, slower form of yoga that targets the tendons, ligaments and fascia within the body. It focuses on fewer poses (mostly seated) with longer holds between 3 and 10 minutes to safely open connective tissues. Students will enjoy a long and restful savasana at the end of practice.
This class is suitable from beginners to those wanting to counterbalance more active styles of yoga or exercise.
Class is led by Erika Gunn.
Like many parents, Erika struggled with the demands of being a mother to a young child, working in a challenging job and finding time to look after her physical and mental health. She finally decided she needed to prioritize herself and gave yoga a try.
Even after that first class, and not being able to do many of the poses, she noticed something about the practice made her feel good – more balanced. It quickly became something her body and mind craved. In May 2019, she completed her 200-hour teacher training certification focused on power yoga at Westside Yoga in Atlanta. Wanting to deepen her practice and explore the other side of yoga, she completed a 50-hour yin training with Bernie Clark and Diana Batts in Vancouver, British Columbia in August 2019.
