Blog Yoga is about acknowledging where we are and being okay with that!

Our ability to feel things deeply is what makes us human. When we share our story and struggles, we open up the safe space for others to share their stories too.

I’ve been working on this month’s blog for a few days, starting and stopping with ideas that seem to go nowhere. It finally occurred to me that I’m stuck because I’m not being authentic.  In my attempt to try and inspire others, I was trying to motivate while avoiding my truth. The truth is this: Some days are easier than others. Some days the last thing I have energy for is to walk into a yoga class and dig deep.

And that’s okay.

It’s about acknowledging where we are and being okay with that. We don’t start from perfection or strive for perfection – we strive to feel better and to gain something from each practice.

What I’ve learned within my yoga practice – and especially in these last few months – is that my true inspiration comes from the difficult places. It comes from the days when I really don’t feel like taking a class but I go anyway. It comes from holding planks when all I want is to belly-flop down onto my mat. It comes from opening my heart enough to be receptive to life’s lessons instead of shutting down.

Whether it’s striving to be honest with myself about my struggles or witnessing others overcome their own, I have come to realize that our biggest obstacles can also be our biggest teachers. Sometimes we simply have to show up. And more often than not, while we aren’t even looking, we find inspiration in those around us, in the small triumphs, and in our willingness to persevere through it all.

Continually inspired by you,

Megan
